Peggy's Barn is our place in Outhgill. It's a detached barn conversion we did a few years back. It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is fine, it's comfortable.
The main thing is the view. You look right out over the Mallerstang Valley. It's very quiet out here. You do have to drive up a track to get to it, about a quarter of a mile. It's a bit steep and it's single track, so just take it easy.
You're on your own up there. The nearest pub is about four and a half miles away in Kirkby Stephen. Kirkby Stephen has shops, a Co-op, a couple of butchers. It's about a ten minute drive. That's where you'll go for things.
Location-wise, you're right between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. Both are about a twenty minute drive, depending on which bit you head for. The Settle to Carlisle railway line runs through the valley below, which is nice to watch. Good for walks straight from the door, or you can drive to the fells.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a wood burner, which is the main source of heat, so you'll be lighting that. There's underfloor heating too. It's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. The water comes from a spring, so it's good, but it's what they call "peaty" – it's got a slight tan colour to it. It's perfectly fine, just don’t expect it to be crystal clear from the tap. Towels and bedding are included. There's parking right outside.

No pets, I'm afraid.
