Linnet Cottage is on Lower Mill Estate in Somerford Keynes. It's on a private nature reserve, so it's quiet, surrounded by lakes and woods. The house looks right out over one of the lakes. You get that view from inside and from the decking outside.
It sleeps six, maybe seven if one is a small child. There are four bedrooms spread over three floors. Three bathrooms, two of those are en-suites. Don't get too excited about the stairs, they're spiral and go up three floors, so it's a bit of a trek.
The main living area is open plan, with big doors out to the deck. There's a wood burner for cooler nights. Upstairs, two of the bedrooms have doors out to another deck. The top floor is just the main bedroom with its own bathroom.
As a guest here, you get membership to the on-site ArtSpa. That means you can use the indoor and outdoor heated pools, the gym, and the sauna. There are also tennis courts and a kids' play area on the estate. The estate itself has lakes for swimming, paddleboarding, or kayaking, and you can fish in some of them. You can walk straight onto the Thames Path from here.
A short walk away is the Cotswold Country Park and Beach. It's a man-made beach with more water sports and activities. There's a shop on the estate for basics and logs, and a restaurant called The Ballihoo.
Cirencester is about a ten-minute drive. It's a proper market town with shops and a few ruins. For a bigger day out, you can get to Cheltenham or Swindon in under half an hour.
The facilities are all there: bedding and towels are included, there's a cot, dishwasher, wifi, and parking for your car. No pets allowed.
