Holly Cottage is in Palnackie, on the edge of the village. It’s semi-detached and the garden is yours. The lane is quiet.
It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one on each floor. It’s got a 4 Star rating. We’ve refurbished it, so it's clean and comfortable. You can bring one dog.
The main bedroom is downstairs. The other two are upstairs. The stairs are normal stairs, not the twisty cottage kind.
There’s a wood burner in the living room. We leave some logs to get you started. The sofas are comfy. The beds are super king-size, and two of them can be made into twins if you ask beforehand.
Outside, there’s a patio with a table and chairs, and a barbecue. The garden is enclosed.
Palnackie has a good shop and a well-known café, both a short walk away. The village is on the Urr estuary. For a nice walk, you can follow the path out to Almorness Point and its beach.
Dalbeattie is three miles away for bigger shops. Castle Douglas is about eight miles. The area is popular for walking and cycling. The 7Stanes mountain bike trails at Dalbeattie Forest are very close. You can store bikes here.
The Solway Coast is good for beaches. Kippford and Rockcliffe are nice harbour villages to visit. It’s a recognised Dark Sky Park, so on a clear night you can see a lot of stars from the garden.
For places to visit, Threave Garden is about half an hour's drive. You can get information on the local area from the Galloway Forest Park site.
Facilities included: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, parking. Bedding and towels are provided. We can provide a cot and highchair.
