The Shepherd's Rest is just outside Auchencairn, in Dumfriesshire. It's a shepherd's hut. It's in a woodland clearing, with views over fields.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one shower room. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean, but it's a hut. Mind your head on the door frame.
There's a wood burning stove. The kitchen has a gas hob and a fridge. The bed is a double. The shower is good. You have your own enclosed garden bit with a gate. Through the gate there's a path into a private bit of woodland. You'll see red squirrels.
Auchencairn village is less than a mile away. It's got a shop and a pub that does food. Dalbeattie is about six miles for bigger shops.
The coast is close. Rockcliffe and Kippford are nice. Sandyhills Bay is about a 15 minute drive for a beach. For a proper forest, the Galloway Forest Park is about half an hour's drive. It's good for walking and they have dark sky stuff for stargazing.
Facilities: bedding and towels are included, there's parking right there, a BBQ, and bike storage. One well-behaved dog is allowed. There's a cot if you need it.
