The Old Coach House is near Auchencairn, about five miles from Dalbeattie. It's a converted coach house, all on its own next to the main house. You see the sea across the fields, and it's a two minute walk down to the shore at Balcary Bay.
The cottage sleeps two, max. There are two bedrooms upstairs: one with a kingsize bed and one with a single bed. It's rated 4 Star, which I think reflects the standard. The upstairs is under the eaves, so watch your head on the beams if you're tall.
It's quiet here. You'll hear birds and the sea. The kitchen is well equipped and there's a wood burning stove. Firewood is provided. The garden area at the front is enclosed.
Auchencairn village has a good community shop and a cafe. For a bigger shop, Castle Douglas is about a 15 minute drive. Kirkcudbright is a bit further, maybe 25 minutes. Both are nice for a wander.
For walking, you're right on the Solway coast. There are paths from the door. The Galloway Forest Park is about a 40 minute drive inland if you want proper forest and hills. The Threave Garden is near Castle Douglas.
The facilities are all there: washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, TV, parking. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.
