Walters Cottage

Walters Cottage is a holiday bungalow on its own. It’s surrounded by fields. As it’s a bungalow, everything is on one level. That’s handy if you don’t want to deal with stairs.

It’s rated 3 Star. It’s clean, everything works, but it’s not posh. It’s comfortable.

It sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms. There’s one bathroom with a shower. The living area is open plan, with a wood burning stove for colder nights. You can bring one dog.

The garden is enclosed, which is good for kids or a dog. There’s a patio area and a barbecue. Parking is on the gravel drive.

There’s a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. A cot and highchair are there if you need them. There’s Wi-Fi and a TV.

You’re quite remote. The local pub is about a mile’s walk away down country lanes. For a shop, it’s about two miles to Shepton Mallet. They have supermarkets and a few places to eat. Glastonbury is about three miles away. The Tor is an obvious walk. The Abbey and Chalice Well are worth seeing.

Wells is about five miles. The Cathedral is the main thing. Cheddar Gorge is a 20 minute drive. The Mendip Hills are good for walks.

The Royal Bath & West Showground is under three miles away. They hold events all year, like the county show. It can get busy when something big is on.

The coast is about 20 miles to Weston-super-Mare or Burnham-on-Sea.

For planning days out, these are the main ones: National Trust Somerset, Mendip Hills National Landscape, and for Glastonbury Tor specifically, National Trust Glastonbury Tor.
