The Chaff House
The Chaff House is in Burcott, just outside of Wells. It's my place. It started life as a storage building for the farm, for chaff. It's up on the first floor, so you're above the old farmyard.
It's a studio apartment, so it's one big room. All open plan. There's a king size bed at one end, a kitchen area with a breakfast bar, and a sitting area with a wood burning stove. The shower room is separate. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean.
The main thing is the balcony. It looks west over the fields. It gets the evening sun. It's a good spot for a coffee or a drink. You can see the weather coming in.
It's for two people. You can bring one dog, if it's well behaved.
Wells is about a mile down the road. It's a small city. The cathedral is impressive. There's a decent market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
You're well placed for a lot of things here. Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole caves are about twenty minutes' drive. Glastonbury Tor is about fifteen minutes. Stourhead is about half an hour. For shopping, Clarks Village in Street is ten minutes away.
Bath is further, maybe forty-five minutes to an hour depending on traffic.
For facilities: there's a wood burner, TV, wi-fi, parking right outside, and bedding and towels are included. The kitchen has what you need.
