The location is the main thing. You're two minutes' walk from the market square and the cathedral. There's a pub about 200 yards away. A shop is about five minutes' walk.
You can see the Bishop's Palace from the end of the street. Wells is small, so everything is close. For planning a visit, the Cathedral website has opening times.
For days out, Cheddar Gorge is about twenty minutes by car. The Mendip Hills are right there for walking. Glastonbury Tor is a fifteen-minute drive. Bath is around forty minutes. The National Trust has several properties nearby, like Stourhead.
