Barrowmead Cottage

Barrowmead Cottage is in Winscombe down a quiet lane. It's part of a small group of cottages on a working farm, so you'll see sheep and cows in the fields. The cottage itself is one of the barn conversions. It's peaceful here and the views are over the valley.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and clean, not a show home. Everything works.

You've got your own patio and garden area. The garden isn't huge, but it's sunny and enclosed. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, and a dishwasher and washing machine. We've put in a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them. Parking is right outside.

Being on a farm, you get a lot of wildlife. Rabbits, birds, that sort of thing. It's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The nearest proper shop and a pub are about two miles away in the village. They're both fine.

For things to do, Cheddar Gorge is about ten minutes by car. It's impressive. The walks are good. National Trust Cheddar Gorge has the details. Blagdon Lake is close by if you like fishing or birdwatching. Weston-super-Mare, for the beach and seafront, is about seven miles.

Wells is maybe twenty-five minutes drive. The cathedral is worth seeing. Bath is about forty-five minutes if you fancy a city day. Bristol Airport is very close, about fifteen minutes, so you do hear the occasional plane coming in to land. It's not constant.

No pets, I'm afraid.
