The Gite at Wildflowers is in Rowberrow, near Shipham. It's a completely detached little house, set next to our place. You get the whole thing to yourselves.
It sleeps three, in one bedroom. A super king bed that can be split into two singles, plus one extra pull-out single bed. One bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's all on one level, which makes it easy. Underfloor heating throughout, so it's always warm underfoot.
The main room has big windows looking out over the garden to the Mendip Hills. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Bristol Channel. You get a patio with a table and chairs out there. There's a small bit of lawn at the back too.
Inside, it's straightforward. A kitchen with a dishwasher and what you need, a dining table, and a sofa with a TV. It's got a 4 Star rating, which I think means it's well-kept and comfortable.
The real point is the location. You can walk straight out the door onto the Mendip Hills. Paths for miles. There are nine pubs within walking distance. The nearest is about ten minutes on foot.
Cheddar Gorge is a ten minute drive. You can walk through it, see the cliffs and the goats. For a bigger town with a sandy beach, Weston-super-Mare is about half an hour away. Glastonbury Tor is also within a 30 minute drive if you want to climb it. If you like caves, Wookey Hole is nearby.
Facilities: everything's included – electricity, heating, bedding, towels. There's WiFi, a TV, parking right outside. No pets.
