Mendip

Mendip is on a working farm up on the Mendips, near Cheddar. It's an old stone barn conversion, so the rooms are a good size. You get your own outside seating area which looks over the farmyard.

It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms upstairs and two bathrooms, one on each floor. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The building is old though, so mind your head on some of the beams.

There are animals around the farm. Pygmy goats, alpacas, guinea pigs. You can say hello. Deer and badgers come through the fields sometimes at dusk.

You're up high here, so the views are good. For walks, you can just head out from the farm gate onto the hills. Cheddar Gorge is about a 15 minute drive down the road. The caves there are worth seeing.

Within half an hour or so, you've got Wells, which has the cathedral. Glastonbury Tor is in that direction too. Wookey Hole caves. Axbridge is a nice little town. The coast at Weston-super-Mare is about 40 minutes, if you fancy that.

Further out, you can get to Longleat, or Exmoor, or Bath if you don't mind an hour in the car.

For facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets allowed.
