Blackberry Lodge

Blackberry Lodge is on a bit of land off a lane just outside Cheddar. It's a detached, single-storey lodge, so everything's on one level. It's just for two people.

It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well looked after. It's not huge, but it's fine for a couple. The bed is a double.

The main thing here is the view. It looks out over a field and towards Cheddar Gorge in the distance. You get your own patio area with a table and chairs to sit out. There are sheep in the field sometimes.

Inside, it's open plan. Living area, kitchen, and the bedroom all in one space. There's a woodburning stove for cooler nights. The bathroom has a shower. It's all compact but it works.

For facilities, you've got a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair stored here if you need them, though it's really meant for adults.

The village of Cheddar is about a mile away. There's a shop, pubs, and the usual tourist stuff for the gorge. The gorge itself is the big draw. It's good for a walk, though it can get busy. The National Trust looks after a lot of it.

You can get to the coast at Weston-super-Mare in under half an hour. Wells, with the cathedral, is about 20 minutes by car. Glastonbury Tor is a similar distance. Bristol and Bath are both within an hour if you fancy a city trip.
