This is Lake View. It's one of four studio apartments we've done up, in what used to be a barn next to our house. The house is old, from 1708, but the studios are all new inside.
It's a first-floor studio. Sleeps two in a double bed. One shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. The main space is open plan. There's a kitchenette with a proper oven and hob, a fridge, and a breakfast bar. There's a smart TV.
The view is the main thing. You look out towards Cheddar Reservoir and across to Glastonbury Tor. You can sit outside under a cherry tree at the front. You get access to the shared walled garden via a walkway. There's a bigger orchard garden beyond that, but that's shared with us and our three dogs. We're around, but we leave you to it.
Location is good. You can walk into Cheddar village in about ten minutes. The famous Gorge is about the same. There are pubs and shops you can get to on foot. The Mendip Hills start pretty much at the end of the lane, so walking from the door is easy. The Strawberry Line cycle path is a couple of minutes away if you bring bikes.
You can park on the gated driveway. There's bicycle storage. WiFi is included, and so are bedding and towels. There's a BBQ you can use.
For a local walk, the reservoir is five minutes by car. It's a two-mile circular path around the water. If you're driving, Glastonbury and the Tor are about twenty minutes. The coast at Weston-super-Mare or Burnham-on-Sea is roughly half an hour. For more organised walks or site information, the National Trust Somerset pages are useful, and so is the Mendip Hills website.
