Poppy Cottage
Poppy Cottage is one of three cottages on our farm here in Banwell. It's a barn conversion, so the ceiling is high in the living bit. It's got a wood burner, which is nice in the winter.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, and two bathrooms which is handy. There's a bedroom on the ground floor with a big bed that can be split into two singles if you ask. The shower room on that floor makes it okay for someone who can't do stairs. The main stairs up to the other bedroom are fine, but they're the original farmhouse stairs so they're a bit steeper than modern ones.
It's a quiet spot. You're on the edge of the Mendip Hills. The garden outside your door is yours to use. It's enclosed.
Weston-super-Mare is about five miles away for the beach and the pier. The nearest shop is three miles in Winscombe, so you'll want to drive. There's a decent pub about a mile and a half walk down the lane.
For days out, Cheddar Gorge is about twenty minutes by car. Wookey Hole is similar. Wells Cathedral is worth seeing, that's maybe half an hour. Bristol and Bath are both within about forty-five minutes if you fancy a city trip.
It's good for walking straight from the door. The Mendip Hills website has routes. For a bigger trip, Exmoor National Park is under an hour away.
Facilities: it's got everything you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Towels and bedding are included. You can bring one dog. There's parking right outside.
