East Cottage
East Cottage is in Brent Knoll. It's one of a pair of cottages, East and Knoll. They're from the 1500s, so the walls are thick and the windows are deep. We've done it up to a good standard.
It's just for two people. One bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite shower room. Everything's on one level. The main room is open plan, kitchen at one end, sitting area at the other. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings.
You've got your own enclosed garden out the back. It gets the sun in the afternoon. There's parking right outside.
The cottage is right next to a public footpath. You can walk straight out onto it and up Brent Knoll hill. It's a proper short, steep hill, but the views from the top are really good. You can see for miles. It's a National Trust area.
The local pub is about half a mile down the road. They do food. The nearest shop is a mile away in the village.
The Somerset coast is about three miles. It's mainly marshes and mudflats, which is great for birdlife. Brean Sands and Burnham-on-Sea are the nearest proper beach spots for sand.
You're in a good spot for driving to things. Glastonbury and its Tor are about 20 minutes. Wells Cathedral is maybe 25 minutes. The Cheddar Gorge and its caves are half an hour away. Clark's Village outlet shopping is near Street, about 20 minutes’ drive.
Facilities: there's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. No pets. The rating is 5 Star, which means it's well-finished and everything works.
