Poplar Cottage is part of Withy Grove Farm in East Huntspill. It’s a proper working farm on the banks of the River Huntspill, so if you want total peace and quiet, it might not be for you. There are tractors and animals about.
The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s all on one floor. It’s got a 3 Star rating, so it’s clean and comfortable but no frills. The patio looks out onto the shared courtyard.
Because it’s a farm, there’s plenty going on. You can walk around and see the chickens, cows, horses, sheep, and a couple of pygmy goats. There’s a heated outdoor swimming pool, a games room, and a skittle alley on site. The owners run a little bar in the evenings sometimes, with quizzes.
The nearest shop and pub is a mile and a half away in the village. The coast at Burnham-on-Sea is about four miles.
It’s a good spot for getting out and about. Glastonbury Tor is about half an hour’s drive. Wells and its cathedral are too. Cheddar Gorge is a bit closer, maybe 20 minutes. If you like fishing, there are local permits for the rivers around here. Clarks Village in Street is there if you need to go shopping.
Things you get: your own patio, parking, a washing machine, TV, WiFi. Bedding is included. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is allowed.
