The Castle
The Castle is in Brean, Somerset. It's a detached bungalow, so everything's on one level. You can see it from the main road because it looks a bit like a small castle, with the stonework. The main thing is the view. It looks straight out over the Bristol Channel and Brean beach. There's a gate at the bottom of the garden that leads right onto the sand.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are king size with their own shower rooms. There's also a double and a bunk room. It's got a 4 Star rating. We had it fully refurbished a few years ago.
The garden is enclosed, which is good for dogs. You can bring up to two. The beach here allows dogs all year. There's a deck with seating and a separate barbecue hut.
You're at the far end of Brean, near the headland called Brean Down. It's managed by the National Trust. Good for a walk away from the main strip. The beach itself is seven miles long. The local area has family amusement parks and that sort of thing. It's busy in season.
If you want to go further, Burnham-on-Sea is a few miles one way. Weston-super-Mare is about twenty minutes in the other direction. Inland, you've got Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole within half an hour. Wells is about forty minutes. You can see Glastonbury Tor from the property on a clear day.
Facilities: everything's included. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, parking on site. Bedding and towels are provided. We've got a cot and highchair if you need them. There's a local pub a short walk away.
