Richmond Cottage

Richmond Cottage is in the middle of Herne Bay, about a five minute walk from the seafront. It's a terrace house, so you have neighbours either side. It sleeps eight.

There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's in good order and has everything you'd need. The rooms are quite big, so you won't feel on top of each other. The master has a walk-in wardrobe. All the bedrooms have a fan for summer.

Downstairs is open plan. There's a separate games room with a full size pool table. It's a good space if the weather turns. The garden is a patio area out the back.

Herne Bay itself is a proper old-fashioned seaside town. The main thing is the long, flat promenade. It's good for a walk or a bike ride. There are beach huts, a few piers, and the usual fish and chip shops. The beach is mostly shingle, but it's fine for a paddle. You can try paddleboarding there. The old Clock Tower is the landmark you'll see.

A 20 minute walk east along the coast gets you to Reculver. That's where the old Roman fort and the twin towers are. It's a good spot for a walk and a photo. Canterbury is about 20 minutes drive inland. That's where the Cathedral is, and all the shopping.

For facilities, it has pretty much everything: parking for one car on the driveway, washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets.

If you're planning trips out, the National Trust page for Reculver has useful information. For the wider area, Visit Kent is the official site.
