The Den is a brick garden room at the back of our house in Herne Bay. It’s detached from the main house and has its own fenced-off garden and patio area, so it’s completely private for you.
It sleeps two. One bedroom with a super king bed, and one shower room. It’s got a 4 Star rating. Everything is on one level, so no stairs.
Inside, the main room is a kitchen and living space together. The kitchen has an oven, hob, dishwasher, and a fridge with a small ice box. There’s a Nespresso machine. The living area has a sofa, an armchair, a dining table, and a smart TV. There’s another smart TV on the wall in the bedroom.
The patio gets the sun in the evening. There’s a table and chairs with a parasol, and a rattan corner sofa. The cushions for the sofa are stored in the bike shed when not in use. You can fit two bikes in there.
Herne Bay itself is a proper seaside town. The beach and the pier are about half a mile away. There’s a pub that does food about 350 yards from the cottage.
Canterbury is about a twenty minute drive. The Roman Museum is good if you like history, and the Cathedral is the main thing to see. Whitstable is about fifteen minutes in the other direction. That’s more for oysters and the harbour.
For walking, the Saxon Shore Way coastal path is on the doorstep. Reculver Country Park is a short drive east, with the old towers and good birdwatching.
In terms of facilities: there’s high-speed Wi-Fi, an electric vehicle charger, on-site parking, a washing machine, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
