Mackay Road is a house on Mackay Road, in Dornoch. It's in a quiet bit, but only a five minute walk to the high street and the cathedral. The garden's enclosed, which is handy if you've got dogs or kids. It gets the evening sun.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, which helps with the morning queue. It's a 4 Star place. It's comfortable and well looked after. The kitchen's decent if you like cooking on holiday. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine.
You're very close to Royal Dornoch Golf Club. The first tee is basically at the end of the road. The beach is about a ten minute walk. It's a long, sandy beach. Good for a proper walk.
Dornoch itself is small. There are a couple of good pubs, some nice shops, and a supermarket for the basics. For a bigger shop, Tain is about fifteen minutes' drive south.
Within half an hour you can be at Glenmorangie for a distillery tour, or up at the Falls of Shin to see the salmon leap. Golspie and its castle are along the coast. Further north, you've got the big cliffs at Helmsdale. If you drive an hour, you're into proper Sutherland wilderness or over to the east coast around Tarbat Ness.
For wider planning, the Visit Highlands site is useful. We leave some books and games in the house, and there's a Smart TV with Sky. There's parking for two cars on the drive. The shed is big enough for golf clubs or bikes.
We take up to two well-behaved dogs. Bedding and towels are included.
