Holly Tree Cottage

Holly Tree Cottage is in Tain, on a quiet street a short walk from the centre. It's a detached cottage from the 1800s. It sleeps six, has three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well looked after.

The kitchen is a good size, with a big wood burner. The living room has another wood burner. There's a small double bedroom on the ground floor. Upstairs, there's a double and a twin room, and a little reading nook on the landing. The stairs are standard for an old cottage, not too bad.

The garden is enclosed, which is handy for dogs or kids. You can get to the garage from the garden. The washing machine and tumble dryer are in there, and there's room to store bikes, golf clubs, or kayaks.

Tain itself is an old town, nice to wander around. The Glenmorangie Distillery is here if you're interested. The local golf course, the Tain Links, is a classic old Tom Morris design.

There's no beach right in Tain, but you're close to some good ones. Dornoch has a beautiful beach and is about a 15-minute drive. Portmahomack and Shandwick are similar distance, both have great sand. Dornoch is worth a visit for the cathedral and places to eat.

You're right on the NC500 route. Heading north, you can get to places like Golspie, Brora, and on up to the north coast in under an hour. The roads inland towards Lairg and on to the west coast are spectacular too.

The facilities are all there. Wifi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's on-site parking. We've got a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them.
