Holly Tree Cottage

Holly Tree Cottage is in Tain, in the Highlands. It's a detached house, built in the 1800s. The street is quiet and the town centre is a short walk away.

It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms and one bathroom. The rating is 4 Star. One of the bedrooms is a small double on the ground floor, next to the bathroom. Upstairs, there's a regular double and a twin room, plus a little reading nook on the landing.

There are two wood burners. One is a very big one in the kitchen and dining area. That room opens out to the garden. The garden is enclosed, which is good for dogs and kids. The garage is handy. You can get to it from the garden. It's got the washing machine and tumble dryer in it, and there's space for outdoor gear like bikes or golf clubs.

You can bring up to two pets.

Tain is a historic town. There's a Glenmorangie distillery here you can visit. For a proper beach, you need to drive. Dornoch, Portmahomack and Shandwick are all about twenty to thirty minutes away and have good sand. Dornoch also has the famous Royal Dornoch golf course.

The town is on the NC500 route. From here you can drive north towards John O'Groats, or west towards Assynt and Ullapool. It's a good base for seeing the north coast.

For walks and local history, the Historic Environment Scotland site is useful. The NatureScot site is good for outdoors information.
