The Barn is a conversion in the grounds of the Old Manse, where we run the B&B. It's separate from the main house, so it's private. There are two acres of garden and woodland here you're welcome to walk around.
The main room downstairs is the old barn space, so the ceilings are high and there are oak beams. It's open plan. There's a wood burner, which we provide some logs for to get you started. Stairs go up to a mezzanine floor, which is a second sitting area that can also be a bedroom. It has a sofa bed.
It sleeps four across two bedrooms. Or, it sleeps two in the main bedroom and two on the sofa bed up on the mezzanine if you'd prefer. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well-equipped and comfortable.
The place is quiet. You look out over fields. There are deer around sometimes, and you'll often hear owls at night.
It's in Kildary, which is a small hamlet. The nearest pub is about a quarter of a mile down the road. Tain, which is a proper town with supermarkets, is five miles away.
The coast is close. The Seaboard villages like Shandwick and Portmahomack are about ten minutes by car. Dornoch beach is about fifteen miles north. If you like whisky, you're in the right spot. Glenmorangie, Dalmore, and Balblair distilleries are all nearby for tours.
For golf, Tain has a course. Royal Dornoch is also nearby, which is famous. Further out, Ullapool and John o' Groats are a couple of hours' drive for a day trip.
Facilities: there's parking right by The Barn. You can bring one well-behaved dog. It has WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. There's a stairgate if you need it.
