Old Midoxgate Farmhouse

Old Midoxgate Farmhouse is on the Hill of Fearn. It's a detached stone house set back from the lane, with its own garden. It's been in the family a long time, so it's old-fashioned in a solid way, not a designer way. We've updated the things that matter.

It sleeps four people in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms: one is a shower room upstairs, and there's a wet room with a bath on the ground floor. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The stairs are the original ones, so they're a bit steeper and narrower than in a new house.

The kitchen is big, with a proper dining table. The main living room has those big old windows that look out over the garden to the fields. There's a sun room off the back which is a good spot to sit. The garden is mostly lawn with shrubs around the edges.

You're right in the countryside here. You can walk straight out the gate. The village of Fearn is about half a mile away for a shop. A pub is three miles, in Tain. The coast at Balintore and Shandwick is about five minutes in the car. They have sandy beaches and a harbour.

Tain is ten minutes away. It's an old town with proper shops, cafés, and a few places to eat. If you're a golfer, you know the area. Royal Dornoch, Tain, Golspie, and Brora are all within a half hour drive.

You're near the North Coast 500 route. For outdoors, you've got hill walking, cycling, or spotting wildlife. You might see deer or red kites inland, and seals or dolphins on the coast.

The facilities are what you'd expect: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. There's parking right by the house. We provide bedding and towels. We can put up a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
