Fourpenny Studio

Fourpenny Studio is in Skelbo, near Dornoch in the Highlands. It’s a single-storey place built into the side of a bigger house, so it’s compact but it’s got everything you need for two people.

You sleep in a kingsize bedroom. It has an en-suite shower room. The living space is in a conservatory, which is nice and light. The kitchen is a galley style. Everything’s on the ground floor, so no stairs.

It’s a 3 Star place. That means it’s comfortable and clean, but don’t expect anything luxurious. It’s a good, solid base.

Outside, you have your own bit of a shared garden. There’s a bee garden with wildflowers on your side. Parking is right there.

You’re about a ten minute walk from the beach at Embo. It’s a huge stretch of sand. The woods and sand dunes around Skelbo are right there for walks, and you’ll often have them to yourself.

Dornoch is only a few minutes’ drive. It’s a nice little town with places to eat and a cathedral. The famous Royal Dornoch golf course is there. Other good courses like Tain, Golspie, and Brora are within a half hour drive.

The start of the North Coast 500 route is a couple of miles away. That makes it easy to head off for the day towards John O’Groats, or inland across to the west coast.

Facilities: there’s a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.

This place can be booked together with Fourpenny Cottage next door if you’re in a bigger group.
