Drummuie House is in Golspie, on the east coast of the Highlands. It's a big old stone house, about 200 years old I think, set in about an acre of its own garden. It's up a bit of a hill, so the views out to sea are really something.
It sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, four bathrooms. Everything's upstairs apart from one ground floor wet room. Two of the bedrooms are really large, one with a four-poster and one with a sleigh bed, and they both have their own bathrooms. The other three rooms share two more bathrooms.
Downstairs, the rooms are big with high ceilings. The kitchen is a good size and has everything you'd need. The dining room has a long table that seats everyone. The main living room has a wood burner and comfy sofas. There's also a games room with a full-size pool table.
The garden is fully enclosed, which is good for dogs and kids. You can walk into Golspie village in a few minutes. There's a shop, a couple of pubs, places to eat, and a nice sandy beach. The Ben Bhraggie hill path starts right behind the house. If you're into mountain biking, the trail there is supposed to be very good.
For golf, Royal Dornoch is about fifteen minutes north. For wildlife, Loch Fleet nature reserve is just south of the village, you often see seals there. Further afield, you've got Dunrobin Castle a few miles north, and the Culloden battlefield is about an hour's drive south, near Inverness.
In terms of what's there: all bedding and towels are included, there's a washing machine and dishwasher, plenty of parking, and bike storage. We take up to two dogs. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-finished and equipped.
A couple of things worth knowing. The house is old, so some of the doorways are a bit low in places if you're tall. And because it's on a slope, the garden has different levels.
