Fourpenny Cottage is in Skelbo, near Dornoch. It's a detached bungalow on a single track road. No immediate neighbours, just fields and a view out to the sea.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, all with their own shower room. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, but the decor is a bit old-fashioned. The layout is upside down, so the living room and kitchen are upstairs to get the view.
You're about a mile from the beach at Embo. It's a huge stretch of sand. The Dornoch Firth and Loch Fleet are right there for wildlife. You can walk to the sand dunes at Coul Links from the door.
Dornoch is a five minute drive. Good shops, a couple of pubs, and a cathedral. The beach there is lovely. The famous Royal Dornoch golf course is there. There are other courses at Tain, Golspie, and Brora too, all within about twenty minutes.
You're just off the North Coast 500 route. It's easy to head west from here towards Ullapool and the Assynt mountains, or north towards John O'Groats. Both are doable for a day trip if you don't mind driving.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking for a few cars. The garden has a patio. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
