Sluice Keeper's Cottage is in Golspie, in the Highlands. It's detached, which means it's quiet. You look right out over Loch Fleet. The view is the main thing.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.
The kitchen has an Aga. It's an oil-fired one, so it keeps the place warm. The windows are old and a bit draughty in a strong wind, but that's part of it. There's a wood burner in the lounge. We leave some logs for you to start with.
The garden is fully enclosed, so it's fine for a dog. One well-behaved pet is welcome. The lawn goes down to a terrace where you can sit and look at the loch.
You can walk straight from the door. The path along the shore is good. You're about five miles from the beach at Dornoch, which is long and sandy. Golspie has shops and a couple of places to eat. It's three miles away.
Royal Dornoch golf course is eight miles north if that's your thing. For walking, the bigger hills of Lochaber are about an hour's drive. The National Trust for Scotland looks after a lot of the local coastline and castles.
Facilities wise, it's got everything on the list: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. If you want to fish in the loch, you'll need to get a permit locally.
