Sluice Keeper's Cottage
Sluice Keeper's Cottage is in Golspie, in the Highlands. It's a detached stone cottage. It was built to look after the sluice gates for Loch Fleet, so the views over the water are the main thing. You can sit and watch the tide come in and out.
It sleeps four. Two double bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.
The kitchen has an Aga. It's oil-fired, so it's always on and warm. It's good for drying coats. The living room has a wood burner. There's a proper dining room with doors out to the garden. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you bring a dog.
You can bring one dog. The garden is fully fenced.
You can walk straight from the front door. The path goes along the shore of Loch Fleet. It's a National Nature Reserve, so there are often seals on the sandbanks. For a bigger beach, you're about five miles from Golspie beach itself. Royal Dornoch is about eight miles north. The beach there is spectacular. The town has shops and the famous golf course.
Golspie has shops, a couple of pubs, and places to eat. It's three miles away. Dunrobin Castle is just outside Golspie. It's worth a visit. Further north, you've got Brora and Helmsdale within half an hour.
In terms of what's here: parking for two cars, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
