The Wee Belter
The Wee Belter is in Embo, near Dornoch. It's a whitewashed fisherman's cottage, one of a short terrace, with a sea view.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is about right. It's been done up but it's still small. If you're tall, mind your head on the kitchen doorway. The garden is enclosed, good if you've got kids or a dog. Speaking of which, we don't take pets, sorry.
Inside, it's warm. There's a wood-burning stove. We leave you a basket of logs to start you off. The parking spot is right outside the front.
The beach is across the road and down the path. It's sandy and it goes on for miles. You can see dolphins sometimes. The village itself is quiet, just houses and a caravan park. Dornoch is about two miles away for shops, cafes, and a couple of restaurants. The cathedral is nice for a wander.
If you like golf, Royal Dornoch is ten minutes by car. It books up fast. For a bigger day out, you can drive up to Dunrobin Castle in about half an hour. It's a proper fairytale castle with falconry displays. Further north, you've got the National Trust for Scotland's Dunrobin & Glen Coe properties within about 45 minutes.
In the cottage you've got the usual: wifi, TV, washing machine, cot and highchair if you need them. All the bedding and towels are included.
