Piglet Lodge is what it says, a converted piggery over at Steven's Crouch. It sleeps two, one bedroom and bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating, so everything works and it’s comfortable.
The place is detached, and you’ve got your own outside seating area looking out towards the woods. It's all on the ground floor and the doorway is level, so it’s accessible if you need that. There’s parking right by it.
Inside, it’s open plan. The bed’s a good size. The kitchen bit has a hot plate, fridge, and microwave, so you can do simple meals. The bathroom has one of those deep, Japanese-style tubs. The owners next door keep to themselves but are there if you need anything.
It’s quiet here, backing onto Normanhurst Forest. Good for walks and seeing deer. There’s a pub about half a mile down the lane. The town of Battle is a few minutes’ drive. It’s got a few shops, a bakery, butchers, and places to eat. The Abbey is there, run by English Heritage.
You can get to Hastings and the coast in under half an hour. That’s where the aquarium and the old town are. Inland, places like Bodiam Castle or Bateman’s, Rudyard Kipling’s house, are about a 30-minute drive. A direct train from Battle gets you to London in just over an hour.
Facilities: WiFi, smart TV, bed linen and towels included. It’s suitable for two adults, and you can bring up to two dogs. A travel cot could fit if you’ve got a baby.
