Moorhens

Moorhens is just outside Herstmonceux village. It's a detached single-storey building, like a small lodge, in our grounds.

It sleeps two people. One bedroom with an en-suite shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's all on one level, so no stairs to worry about.

You're on the edge of our land here, about 37 acres. There's an orchard and you're welcome to walk around. The views from the door are over fields, very peaceful. It's a shared garden space with our other property, but it's not crowded.

Inside, it's compact but has what you need. There's a kitchen with a washer-dryer and a dishwasher. The ceiling slopes a bit with Velux windows, so you get a lot of light. You can see the stars at night from them. We've put in an air conditioning unit that cools in summer and can heat in winter.

Outside the door there's a little table and chairs for sitting out.

Herstmonceux village is a short drive away. It has a shop, a couple of places to eat, and a pub. The castle and the Herstmonceux Science Centre are there if you're interested.

Battle is about 20 minutes by car. The Battle Abbey site is the main thing to see. The coast is 15-20 minutes in the other direction. Eastbourne has the proper seafront, or Pevensey Bay is quieter.

There's parking right outside the property. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome. We have another holiday let on the same land, so Moorhens can be booked together with that if you're a group of four.
