Highlands Farmhouse is near Wood's Corner in East Sussex. It's down a long woodland track, so it's very quiet. You're in the middle of the forest here. There are deer, foxes, lots of birds. You'll hear owls at night.
The house sleeps seven. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable but not luxurious. It was built in 1780. There are oak beams and a big inglenook fireplace. The conservatory looks out into the woods. The stairs are steep, it's that sort of house.
You can bring one dog. The garden is enclosed. There's parking right there.
For facilities, there's a dishwasher, washing machine, wood burner, and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. There's WiFi, but it's the countryside, so it can be slow.
You're on the edge of Dallington Forest. Footpaths start right from the gate. Rudyard Kipling's house, Bateman's, is a decent walk away. The nearest pub and shop are about three miles, in the village.
Battle is six miles one way, Heathfield is six miles the other. Hastings is about a 25 minute drive. The South Downs National Park is within half an hour. For local walks and maps, the High Weald National Landscape site is useful.
If you've got children, Bedgebury Pinetum and Drusilla's Zoo are both within a 30 minute drive. Herstmonceux Observatory is about the same.
The coast is 14 miles away. Rye and Camber Sands are in that direction.
