The Peacock Barn

The Peacock Barn is a barn conversion on our farm in Burwash. It's detached and all on one floor. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower.

You'll get the place to yourselves, but I live on site if you need anything. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean.

The barn looks out over our fields. We've got sheep and horses. You're surrounded by about 80 acres. It's quiet here. You get to the barn down a half-mile farm track from the village.

In the barn, there's an open plan living area with a woodburning stove. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a TV and wifi. Outside is an enclosed garden with a patio and a barbecue. You can park right outside.

We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them.

Burwash village is about half a mile away. There's a shop there. The pub is at the start of the farm lane. It's a 15th-century place, does decent food and local ales. It's a nice walk back from there.

You can walk for miles directly from the farm. The whole area is part of the High Weald National Landscape.

In Burwash itself, Bateman's is the old house once owned by Rudyard Kipling. It's a National Trust property now and worth a look. The village high street is pretty and has a lot of history.

Within about half an hour's drive, you've got a few good days out. Bodiam Castle is about eight miles east. Battle Abbey is nine miles south east. For a steam train ride, the Kent & East Sussex Railway runs from Bodiam to Tenterden.

If you want water, Bewl Water reservoir is nearby for fishing and walks. The coast is about a 30 to 40 minute drive. Camber Sands near Rye is a big sandy beach. Hastings and Bexhill have beaches too, more pebbly.
