This is Windmill Barn. It's on Windmill Hill, near Herstmonceux. It's a one-bedroom place, sleeps two. We got the 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.
The barn is detached. It's got an enclosed garden for sitting out. There's private parking. Inside, it's open plan with a wood burning stove.
The main thing here is the windmill. It's right next door, about 200 years old and Grade II* listed. It's been restored and actually works. They open it most Sunday afternoons from Easter to September for the public. If you're staying here, you can arrange to see it at other times too. It's free to visit, but they rely on donations to keep it going.
The barn is on high ground. The view looks out over the Pevensey Levels. On a very clear day, you can see the sea.
The village has a shop, a pub, and a restaurant about five minutes' walk away. The coast at Normans Bay is about six miles if you want a beach. Eastbourne is a bit further, maybe 20 minutes in the car.
If you're driving, you can reach a lot in half an hour. Battle Abbey is one. Pevensey Castle is another. The Seven Sisters cliffs and the South Downs are both nearby. You can get more ideas from the National Trust Southeast and South Downs National Park sites.
For the barn itself, it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
