Windmill Barn

Windmill Barn is, as the name suggests, next to an old windmill. It's a proper 200-year old one, not just for show. It's a Grade II* listed building. You can visit it most Sunday afternoons. If you're staying here, you can arrange to see inside at other times. It's free but they ask for donations to keep it going.

The barn is for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It’s detached. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well finished, hence the luxury tag.

The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have a dog or just want some privacy. There's parking. Inside, it's open plan, with a wood burning stove. That's nice in the winter. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them.

You're up on a bit of a hill here. The views are out over the Pevensey Levels, which is a nature reserve, and you can see the sea in the distance. The beach is about six miles away at Eastbourne. They get a lot of sun there. The famous white cliffs, Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters, are along that coast.

The village has a shop, a pub, and a restaurant about 300 yards away. Buses aren't great. One an hour on weekdays, finishing around six, and none on Sundays. You'll want a car.

Lots to do within half an hour. You're in the South Downs National Park for walking. Pevensey Castle and Herstmonceux Science Centre are nearby. Battle is the market town where the Battle of Hastings happened. There's local fishing and golf if that's your thing.
