Spilstead Barn is near Sedlescombe. It's a converted barn on a working farm. They still keep animals, so there are stables right opposite the front door. You'll see horses.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms are upstairs. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. The place was done up a few years ago, so it's in good shape. It's got underfloor heating downstairs.
The stairs are open-tread, so they're a bit different from normal house stairs. The garden is fully enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs. There's parking.
You get access to the farm's private lake. It's about a ten-minute walk from the cottage. There's a rowing boat there you can use. You can swim or fish. It's quiet.
Sedlescombe village has a pub that does food. Battle is about four miles away. That's where the 1066 Battle of Hastings site is. The English Heritage page has the details.
Hastings and the seafront are about a fifteen-minute drive. Rye is about twenty minutes in the other direction. It's a nice old town with cobbled streets.
The cottage has a washing machine, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. They allow up to two dogs. There's an electric vehicle charger.
For more on the area, the 1066 Country website is useful. So is the National Trust page for the South East if you like visiting houses and gardens.
