The Old Parlour

The Old Parlour is our old farm building, converted into a cottage. It's on our farm in Whatlington, East Sussex. The farm's about 120 acres. You're welcome to walk across the fields. You might see or hear buzzards, and occasionally nightingales.

It sleeps four people. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean. It's detached, so no shared walls.

The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. Outside, there's a terrace with a table and chairs, and a BBQ. It looks straight out over the fields.

We're pretty rural here. The nearest shop, pubs, and places to eat are about three miles away in Battle. That's also the nearest train station if you need to get to London.

Battle's the main local town. You can visit the abbey and walk the battlefield. English Heritage Battle Abbey has the details.

The coast is about seven miles. Hastings is there, with its pier and the old town. Rye is about a twenty minute drive. It's got the cobbled streets and old buildings.

There are a few National Trust places within half an hour, like Bodiam Castle and Bateman's. A local vineyard in Sedlescombe does tours. You can find golf nearby.

Facilities wise, it's got WiFi, TV, parking, and bedding and towels are included. We allow one well-behaved dog.

For planning days out, National Trust Sussex and Visit Hastings are useful.
