The Old Parlour is a converted barn on our farm in Whatlington. The farm is about 120 acres, mostly grass for the livestock. You're welcome to walk across the fields. You hear a lot of birds. Buzzards are common, and sometimes you get nightingales.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathroom upstairs. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, not luxurious. The wi-fi works fine.
Downstairs is mostly one open room. There's a wood burner for winter evenings. The doors open onto a terrace that looks over the fields. We've left a BBQ out there.
The village pub is about a mile and a half away. The nearest shop is three miles, so you'll want to drive for a proper shop.
Battle is close, about five minutes in the car. You can visit the abbey and walk the battlefield. Hastings is about seven miles for the pier and the seafront. Rye is maybe twenty minutes' drive, with the old town and cobbled streets.
There are a few National Trust places nearby if that's your thing. Bateman's, which was Rudyard Kipling's house, is very close. Bodiam Castle and Scotney Castle are both within half an hour.
For facilities, it's got the washing machine, dishwasher, TV, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We allow one well-behaved dog. The electricity is included in the price.
