Castlemans Stables East is in Sedlescombe, which is a few miles north of Battle. It's a converted stable block, part of a pair. You get your own enclosed patio garden out the front, which looks over fields.
The place sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms are ensuite, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a solid, comfortable conversion.
You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed, but it's not totally escape-proof for a really determined dog, so you'd need to keep an eye.
The village has a pub, The Queens Head, which is walkable. They do food and allow dogs. Sedlescombe Golf Club is just up the road. The vineyard here does tours and tastings.
Battle is about a ten-minute drive. It's a small town built around the abbey. There are shops and cafes. The main thing is the battlefield. English Heritage 1066 Battlefield.
Hastings is about fifteen minutes by car. It's a proper seaside town. The fishing beach and the Old Town are the bits to aim for. There's also the Hastings Country Park for walking.
For a bigger day out, Rye and Bodiam Castle are within half an hour. The National Trust has a few properties around here too, like Sissinghurst or Bateman's.
Inside, there's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. There's a TV and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
