Questedes is that big house on Westgate Road, just on the edge of Margate. It's a Grade II listed building. We've owned it a few years now. It sleeps a lot of people, fourteen or sixteen depending, so it's good for families or groups who all want to be under one roof.
It's detached. You get the whole two acres to yourself. There's a hot tub and a sauna out the back. Inside, there are six bedrooms and five bathrooms, so no big queues in the morning. Downstairs is three big reception rooms: a living room, a drawing room, and a dining room. The kitchen is huge, which you need for that many people. It's got a fancy coffee machine, a boiling water tap, three fridges, and an ice machine. The stairs are normal, no real issues there.
It's a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped, not just basic. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, and parking on site. You can bring up to two dogs.
The location is the main thing. You can walk to Westgate beach in about seven minutes. Turn left along the coast for Minnis Bay and Birchington, or right for Margate. Westgate train station is about 200 yards away if you need to get into London. Margate itself is a five-minute drive or a short bus ride.
Margate has changed. The Old Town has a lot of interesting little shops and places to eat now. The Turner Contemporary gallery is there if you like art. There's Dreamland, the amusement park, and the Shell Grotto is worth a look. You've got crazy golf and a proper 18-hole course nearby too.
Within half an hour's drive, you can get to Ramsgate and Broadstairs, which are nice. You can also get out to the Kent Downs.
