12 Arthur Road

It's 12 Arthur Road, in Margate. It's a big Victorian townhouse, sleeps ten, so it works for a family group or a few friends. There are five bedrooms, all with their own bathroom.

It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well done and comfortable. It was restored a few years ago, so it has the original fireplaces and high ceilings, but also the en-suites and a proper modern kitchen. The walls are a mix of old and new plaster, which tells the story of the place. The furniture is a bit of everything, a lot of it came from the Scotts auction house down the road.

Downstairs feels grand because of the high ceilings. There are three big reception rooms, so people can spread out. The kitchen has an island and a table that looks out to the garden.

The stairs are fine. All the bedrooms are upstairs. A couple have sea views to the side, and some have fireplaces too.

You're about a ten-minute walk from the seafront and the Turner Contemporary gallery. The house is in the Dalby Square conservation area. There's a shop and places to eat very close by.

For a day out, you can get the train to Canterbury, which takes about half an hour. Ramsgate and Broadstairs are along the coast. The National Trust looks after a few places nearby, like South Foreland Lighthouse near Dover.

Practical stuff: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, enclosed garden, and TV. There's a stairgate. It's not suitable for pets. Bedding and towels are included.
