Coastguard Retreat is in Ramsgate. It's a terraced house right on the seafront. It used to belong to the Admiralty. It's a listed building so it's got character, but that also means the layout is what it is. You can hear the sea from the front rooms.
It sleeps four. There are three bedrooms, but two are quite small. Two of them look straight out to sea. There's one bathroom. It's been done up to a high standard, which is what the 5 Star rating means. Everything's clean and in good order.
The living room and kitchen are open plan at the back. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. The main thing in the living area is the view. It's just sea. No garden, but you're facing the water.
The local pub is about a hundred yards away. There's a shop and a few restaurants a short walk further on. The harbour is picturesque with cafes. On a clear day you can see France.
For history, the town has a lot of it, especially from the war. You can walk the Viking Trail. There are three golf courses nearby. The beaches are varied, from sand to stones.
Canterbury is about a half hour drive for the cathedral and shopping. You can get the train to London from here if you need to. You can also get to Ashford for the Eurostar to France.
Facilities: all bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair. We allow one well-behaved dog. The WiFi works. There's parking for one car on the street outside.
