The Doocot @ East Neuk Orchards
The Doocot is an old dovecote we've done up. It's just for two people, one bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating, which is the top end.
Honestly, it's a strange building. It's a tall, narrow, stone tower that used to be full of birds. We kept all the original nesting boxes in the walls, they're just part of the fabric now. The stairs are quite steep and go round in a spiral. If you're tall, mind your head on the way up.
The bedroom's on the ground floor. Big kingsize bed, french doors to the courtyard. The shower room is attached to it. The main living space is upstairs. It's all open plan, kitchen, sitting area, everything. The view from the big window there looks out over the fields to the sea. It's quiet.
It's set back from the road in about ten acres of our land, mostly orchards and woodland. The Gillingshill nature reserve is right across the lane if you want a short, flat walk.
You're about a ten minute drive from Pittenweem and Anstruther. They're proper old fishing villages, good for a wander and fish and chips. St Andrews is about fifteen minutes away for the golf or the university town stuff.
In terms of what's here: there's a dishwasher, TV, wifi, parking right outside. All bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There's no garden that's solely yours, but you can use the shared courtyard.
