The Doocot is a cottage in Arncroach, in Fife. It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating.
It's a doocot that's been done up. A doocot is an old building for doves. It's tall and has thick stone walls. The inside is all new, with a big bed and an open plan living space upstairs. They've kept a lot of the old nesting boxes in the walls, which is interesting to look at. There are some nice bits of wood from a local tree.
You're up high in the living room, so you get a good view out over the fields to the sea. The bedroom is on the ground floor and opens onto a shared courtyard. The stairs inside are quite steep, because it's a tall, old building.
It's on a ten acre site with orchards and woods. It's quiet. Right across the road is the Gillingshill Reservoir, which is a nature reserve. Good for a gentle walk.
You're about a ten minute drive from Pittenweem and Anstruther. They're proper old fishing villages with harbours and good fish and chip shops. St Andrews is about fifteen minutes away. You can walk around the university, see the cathedral ruins, or go along the West Sands beach.
You can book it with the other two cottages here if you're a bigger group.
Facilities: there's wifi, a TV, a dishwasher, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
