Maisie Cottage

Maisie Cottage is in St Monans, which is a fishing village on the Fife coast. The front looks onto the street and the back garden looks over the harbour and the sea.

It's a three bedroom house that sleeps six comfortably. Two doubles and a twin. There's one bathroom, with a shower and a bath.

The house is rated 3 Star. That means it's clean and well equipped, but not luxurious. It's straightforward. The kitchen is modern and has a table. The living room is a good size.

The stairs are quite steep. It's an old house. The entrance and the main rooms are all on one level, so wheelchair access into the house is fine.

You can take two pets. There's a small garden with a deck and a patio. It gets the sun in the afternoon and evening. We've left a BBQ there. There's also a shed where you can store bikes if you've brought them.

Everything's included, like bedding, towels, electricity and Wi-Fi. There's a washing machine and a dishwasher. We've got a cot and high chair if you need them.

The village has a pub that does food and a restaurant. For more shops and cafes, Anstruther is about an eight minute drive away. They have good fish and chips. The next village along, Pittenweem, is five minutes away and has art shows in the summer.

The Fife Coastal Path runs right past the village. It's good for long walks. The beach at Elie is about two miles away.

St Andrews is a 25 minute drive. Golf, the university, that sort of thing. If you're into castles, there are quite a few ruins nearby, like Newark Castle.
