The Old Smithy

The Old Smithy is in Anstruther harbour. It's a stone terraced cottage, right on the street. The front door opens straight onto the pavement.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one shower room upstairs. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The bedrooms are on a mezzanine floor above the living area, with sliding oak doors. They look down into the living space, so it's open plan.

The building is old. Part of it was built before 1730. It's been a stable and a blacksmith's workshop. It was completely renovated about fifteen years ago.

You're right in the middle of things. The harbour, shops, and places to eat are about a minute's walk. The chip shop is famous. There's a good bakery, pubs, and a Michelin-starred restaurant if you want a treat.

The Fife Coastal Path runs past the door. You can walk along the coast to other villages like Crail or Pittenweem. There's a sandy beach about 100 yards away.

St Andrews is about nine miles up the road for shopping, the university, or the golf. The National Trust for Scotland's Culross is a half-hour drive, it's a very well-preserved 17th-century village. For boat trips to see the puffins on the Isle of May, they leave from the harbour in season.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. A cot and highchair are here if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. There's on-street parking nearby, but no private driveway.
