Roosters Rest is one of a pair of cottages we built in Barley, just down from Pendle Hill. We finished them in 2020 with local stone and slate, so they fit in with the old farm buildings nearby.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable.
The cottage is in Barley, which is a small village at the foot of Pendle Hill. There are two pubs and a restaurant a short walk away, maybe ten minutes. They all do food. The nearest shop for groceries is in Barrowford, about three miles drive.
If you're here to walk, you're in the right spot. You can start the climb up Pendle Hill from the village. The area is part of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are reservoirs and sculpture trails to explore locally.
Within about half an hour you can drive to Clitheroe, which has a castle and market, or over the border into Skipton in Yorkshire, which is another market town with a castle. The Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District are both within an hour's drive for a longer day out.
Inside, it's open plan on the ground floor. There's underfloor heating. The kitchen has a dishwasher. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. The garden is enclosed, with a patio and a BBQ. There's parking right outside.
You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed, but it's not fortress-like, so keep an eye on them.
