Roosters Rest is in Barley, just at the bottom of Pendle Hill. It's one of a pair of semi-detached cottages that were finished in 2020. They used stone and slate to match the old farm buildings nearby.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, and each one has its own bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's new, so everything works.
The garden is enclosed. There's parking right there. It's open plan inside, with a TV and WiFi. We've got a dishwasher and a washing machine. A cot and highchair are here if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
You're in the Forest of Bowland. It's good walking country straight from the door. The village has two pubs and a restaurant about a mile away. There's a shop in Barley, but the bigger supermarkets are about three miles off in Barrowford or Nelson.
You're here for the hill, really. People climb Pendle Hill from the village. There's the Walking with Witches trail and the Pendle Sculpture Trail. The Four Reservoir walks start here too. For bikes, the Forest of Bowland site has routes.
If you drive, Clitheroe is about 20 minutes and has a castle. Skipton is about half an hour, another castle. The Yorkshire Dales and the Lancashire coast are within an hour. The Lake District is a bit further, maybe an hour and a half.
