Swaledale Cottage - Barley Green Mill
This cottage is called Swaledale Cottage at Barley Green Mill. It's in Barley, Lancashire.
It's a detached stone cottage for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom, and the bathroom is en suite. It's got a 4 Star Gold rating. That means it's well kept and everything works.
The cottage is right at the foot of Pendle Hill. You can see it from the windows. Barley village is a short walk away. There are two pubs and a café there. Both pubs do food. The picnic area by the reservoirs is nice.
The stairs inside are a typical cottage spiral staircase. They're quite tight.
You're in the Forest of Bowland, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For walking, you can go straight up Pendle Hill from the door, or walk around Ogden Reservoir. There's a sculpture trail nearby too. For cycling, Gisburn Forest is about a 15 minute drive and has good trails.
Clitheroe is the nearest proper town, about 20 minutes by car. It's got shops and a castle. Holmes Mill there has a long bar and a food hall.
Within an hour's drive you can get to the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, or the coast at Blackpool. More locally, the National Trust has a few properties like Gawthorpe Hall.
