Lawns Cottage
Lawns Cottage is in Sproxton, a village just outside Helmsley in North Yorkshire. It's a stone cottage, solid and typical for the area. You get the whole place, including the garden, to yourselves.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One has a double bed, the other has two singles. There's one bathroom downstairs with a bath and a shower cubicle. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well kept and comfortable. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they're a bit steep.
The living room has a wood burner. It does heat the room well. The kitchen is functional, with everything you'd need. The dining room is separate.
The garden is a good size, enclosed, with a patio and seating. It's safe for a dog or for kids to run around in.
You're right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. You can walk straight out from the door onto paths. Helmsley is two miles away. That's where you'll find the main shops, cafes, and a couple of good butchers. The castle and the walled garden there are worth a visit.
Within about half an hour you can be at Rievaulx Abbey, which is a beautiful ruin. Byland Abbey is similar. The Cleveland Way walking path runs nearby. For a day at the coast, Whitby is about a 40 minute drive.
Facilities: there's parking for one car on the driveway. Everything like bedding, towels, wifi and electricity is included. There's a washing machine, a TV, and a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
