Mum's Place

This is Mum's Place in Hay-on-Wye. It's a three-bedroom end-of-terrace cottage in a quiet little street just off the main road. It sleeps five. There's a downstairs loo and a proper bathroom upstairs with a shower over the bath. We accept two dogs.

We've just finished a full refurbishment. Everything's new: new kitchen, new bathroom, new floors, new heating. It's clean and comfortable. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and in good order.

You've got a completely private, enclosed garden at the back. It's paved, gets the sun in the afternoon, and has a table and chairs. There's parking for one car right outside.

The facilities are all standard. Washing machine, WiFi, TV, all bedding and towels included. Heating and electricity are covered in the price.

You're about a four or five minute walk from the centre of Hay. That's where all the bookshops are, and the cafes and pubs. The local is The Swan, about three minutes up the road.

If you like walking, you're on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. The National Trust has some good walking routes. The Black Mountains are stunning. For the bigger hikes, the Brecon Beacons National Park site is useful.

Within half an hour you can be in Abergavenny or Hereford. Hereford Cathedral is worth a visit. The book festival is, obviously, the big event in Hay, but it gets very busy. If you're coming then, book well ahead.
