Barn Owls Rest is out past Clyro, towards Hay. It's detached, next to our orchard. It was built new a couple of years ago, so everything's in good order.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both downstairs. One has a kingsize bed and its own shower room. The other has a big zip-and-link bed that can be two singles, and a bathroom right next door. The washing machine is in a utility room by the entrance.
Upstairs is the living space. Kitchen, dining, sitting room, all open plan. The view from there is the main thing, over the fields. There's a glass balcony off it. It's a quiet spot. You get the orchard garden to yourselves, it's enclosed. Table and chairs out there.
Hay-on-Wye is about two miles away. That's where the bookshops are. The walking from here is good. You can start from the door or drive a short way. The Brecon Beacons and Offa's Dyke path are close. The Black Mountains and Hay Bluff are within twenty minutes.
For a day out, Hereford is about half an hour. The cathedral and the Mappa Mundi are there. There are a few castles around, like Longtown. Canoeing on the Wye is popular.
The facilities are as you'd expect from a new place. Wi-fi, TV, dishwasher, coffee machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on the drive. It's all on one level from the parking to the ground floor, so it's suitable for wheelchair access to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The stairs to the living area are a standard flight.
