The Hayloft is in Ffynnon Gynydd, a few miles out of Hay-on-Wye. It's a converted part of an old farmhouse. The courtyard and gardens are shared with a couple of other cottages, but it's quiet. It's got a 4 Star rating.
It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. Two are downstairs, both with windows on two sides. One has twins, one has a king. They share a shower room. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are fine, but they're the original farmhouse stairs, so they're a bit steeper than modern ones.
The main living space is upstairs. It's open-plan with a kitchen, a big table, and three sofas around a wood burner. There's a record player with some old LPs. The views are over the courtyard one way and the gardens the other.
The two upstairs bedrooms are peaceful, with oak beams. One has a tall window with a Juliet balcony looking over the fields.
You get your own terrace area. There's a shared garden with a ping pong table. We leave deck chairs, boules, and quoits out for you. There's an outside tap for washing muddy dogs, and lockable bike storage. We provide maps for local walks. You can bring up to two dogs.
Glasbury village is about a mile away for basics. Hay-on-Wye is five miles. It's famous for the bookshops. The castle is worth a visit, and there are plenty of cafes and a good gastropub.
For days out, the Brecon Beacons are right there for walking. Visit Wales Walking has good route ideas. The National Trust has several properties and areas locally, like Brecon Cathedral. Hereford is about a 30-minute drive east.
Facilities include a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. We leave a small welcome hamper. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
