Court House

This is the Court House. It’s an end-terrace house right in the middle of Hay-on-Wye. You can walk to everything, which is handy.

It sleeps eight comfortably. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s a nice, solid house. There's a decent enclosed garden out the back.

The stairs are fairly steep. You’ll feel it coming down in the morning. You can park one car on site, otherwise it’s on the street.

There’s a useful list of things in the house: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We’ve got a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you’re bringing little ones. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

You’re about a two-minute walk from the first pub and five minutes from shops and places to eat. The whole town is built around books. You can’t move for bookshops, which is the point of coming here really. The festival happens in May and it gets very busy then.

The river Wye is a short walk away, down by the Warren. Good for a paddle if it’s warm. For walks, you’re on the Offa’s Dyke Path and the Wye Valley Walk.

Within half an hour you can drive to the Brecon Beacons, or over to Hereford. Black Mountains are right there for a proper day out walking.
