Stable Lad's Cottage is in Glasbury, Powys. It's a stone cottage in a cobbled courtyard. The courtyard was part of the old farm buildings for Maesllwch Castle. You get the cottage to yourselves, plus a private decked area in the shared garden.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One is an en-suite. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up nicely inside.
The kitchen is well-equipped. There's a wood burning stove in the sitting area. The stairs are fine. Some of the internal steps are a bit unexpected, like the two steps down to the kitchen. Just watch your step.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's an outdoor tap for washing muddy paws. There's also lockable bike storage if you need it.
Hay-on-Wye is about three miles away. That's where all the bookshops are. The Brecon Beacons National Park is right on the doorstep for walking. The Black Mountains are close too.
For a day out, Hereford is about a 30 minute drive. Abergavenny is roughly the same. The Hay Castle in town has reopened and is worth a visit.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, cot and highchair. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking on site.
